Before they created Terrenos Houston – which is now known as Colony Ridge – developers John Harris, William Trey Harris, and cousin Robin Lane had their sights set on King’s Colony. They owned the majority of lots there and aimed to take control of the Property Owner’s Association (POA). To voice his concerns about King’s Colony, John Harris created a website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

John Harris wrote, “The job done by David Goolsby and Atascocita Paving was not a thickness of one inch.”<\/p><\/div>\n

On the website, John Harris complained about poorly paved roads in King’s Colony. He specifically mentioned that the paving job done by David Goolsby and Atascocita Paving did not meet the required thickness of one inch. John Harris titled this issue the “Paving Scandal” and also posted photos of trash along the road. Furthermore, he stated that as of May 1, 2007, there were only five homes in King’s Colony, all of which were mobile homes.<\/p>\n

Additionally, John Harris’s brother, William Trey Harris, testified in court against the previous director, Ira Crain. This was in a lawsuit someone else had served her with. Trey Harris accused her of misusing $200,000 of the POA funds. Ira Crain was ultimately sentenced to seven years in prison. John Harris featured her case and mug shot on his website.<\/p>\n

After Ira Crain was removed from her position, the Harris and Lane family gained control of the POA and increased the fees. However, this decision led to John Harris being sued by a group of residents.<\/p>\n
